Patois Toronto. Visual Identity designed by Elsie Lam.

Patois Toronto

Like Jamaica’s national language, “Patois” is the merging of great food ideas from various cultures, executed with respect for the ingredients. Patois Toronto is Chef Craig Wong’s Caribbean-Asian kitchen, one of the city’s most unique spots.

About

In the same way as the Jamaica’s national language, “Patois” is the merging of great food ideas from various cultures, executed with respect for the ingredients.

Patois is an Caribbean-Asian soul food restaurant that serves up a fusion of flavours from different cultures most Torontonians would likely be familiar with from childhood.

Brief

Patois Toronto is an Caribbean-Asian restaurant as Chef Craig Wong’s background is Jamaican-Chinese.

The challenge is to create a brand that can reflect both cultures.

Design

When I was developing the brand, I thought of what food means to me and my client — Food = Happiness.

For this brand development, I’ve chosen the Chinese character “happiness” to incorporate into a pineapple — with pineapple being a key ingredient in Caribbean cuisine.

This project comprises of creating restaurant visual identity and branding alongside with all support elements includes website, menu, exterior and interior signages, merchandise (such as apparel), food wrap paper, business cards and all other marketing material including social, advertisements, pop-up and collaboration events and posters.
